Muay Thai, Work & Play
Justin Troy teaches Muay Thai and Work & Play classes at Chok Sabai Gym, focusing on technical movement and goal-oriented programs. He believes that training should be fun, and always include good structure and developed reflexes and coordination before incorporating advanced movement.
Justin has trained and competed in kickboxing for over 10 years, primarily in Muay Thai. In 2012, he founded TroyFitness, a personal training business built on his fitness philosophies. His professional certifications include NASM, TRX suspension training, kettlebells, and kickboxing.
Clifford Francois is a Muay Thai instructor under Kru Natalie Fuz. He started Muay Thai in 2013 for fun and fitness at first but quickly fell in love with the sport. Cliff did his first smoker at Chok Sabai a year later and has fought actively since. In 2014, he became the gym manager and in 2015, he started his instructor certification and was certified after many hours of apprenticeship with Kru Natalie. He is a technical and aggressive fighter and a very patient and dynamic teacher.
Jo-anne Lee is a professional dancer and certified Pilates instructor (through the PhysicalMind® Institute). More recently, she was also certified as yoga instructor through Virayoga (now Twisted Trunk Yoga) after being a yoga student for many years. She teaches both Pilates and yoga classes at Chok Sabai.
Jo-anne integrates Pilates work with the principles of yoga and her dance background, forming a practice that creates space and length in the body, while developing the strength to maintain that space for better alignment and function. She has worked with a wide variety of clients, from professional athletes and Muay Thai fighters, to people who are suffering from chronic back issues and muscular imbalances.
Her mat class at Chok Sabai focuses on the basic principles of core strength, understanding that a healthy body is one that is grounded in proper alignment. Strengthening the deeper abdominal muscles not only provides core support, it facilitates better balance, posture, and a more efficient movement. Props such as foam rollers and balls will be used in class to challenge stability in motion. You will leave the class feeling significantly taller! Learn more about her at jo-anneleepilates.com
Sebastian Guerriero is a black belt under Josh Griffiths (Clockwork BJJ). He is a very experienced teacher having taught as an instructor at Clockwork BJJ for many years. Please see his website for more information http://sebastianguerriero.com/
Wendy Lau is a physician (ER doc) who started training Muay Thai in medical school in 2007 for fitness and stress relief but ended up loving it so much that she started competing. She still trains with the fight team regularly and goes on the Chok Sabai Thailand trip every year. She is also a meditation and yoga teacher and currently teaches public yoga and meditation classes and a fight-team-only meditation class at Chok Sabai where visualization and meditation techniques are used to inspire and fortify the competitor’s mental strength. Work & Play, Physical Therapy
Lev Borukhov teaches Work & Play and is an assistant Muay Thai coach. He is a physical therapist with a Doctorate of Physical Therapy from New York Institute of Technology. He started Movement Minded Physical Therapy with the mission to spend more time with his patients by providing full one-hour one-on-one sessions— without the time constraints of a big office practice. Using evidence based therapies and hands-on techniques, patients not only get better, they learn how to stay better, run faster, jump higher and kick harder. He strongly believes that movement is the key to recovery and exercises are what we use to facilitate correct movement!
In his spare time Lev is usually training and competing in Muay Thai and enjoys bicycling around New York City. He is an active amateur fighter for Chok Sabai Gym. He also assists as second corner at fight shows for the Chok Sabai Fight Team, and traveled to Iowa for the Muay Thai Classic Tournament with the team to provide on-site help with acute injuries.
